IQAir has worked on air purification and air quality monitoring since 1963: a family company that began in Germany and is headquartered in Switzerland today.
IQAir offers air purifiers for homes and workplaces, air quality monitors and the AirVisual data platform. According to IQAir, the company’s mission is to provide innovative air quality solutions for people around the world.

Technology
From filter to data
IQAir products are not all the same: each family combines these technologies in its own way. See each product’s page for its exact specifications.
HyperHEPA filtration
IQAir’s own filtration technology for very fine particles, used in the HealthPro and Atem families.
Multi-stage filtration
In some models, a pre-filter and a gas and odour filter (such as MultiGas) work alongside the particle filter.
PureJet diffuser
In Atem Desk, purified air is directed towards the breathing zone in a gentle stream.
Air quality monitoring
The AirVisual Pro monitor measures fine particles (PM2.5), carbon dioxide, temperature and humidity indoors.
Global air quality data
The AirVisual platform publishes real-time air quality data, and IQAir publishes its World Air Quality Report every year based on it.

Six decades of work on air quality
From a small workshop in Germany to global air quality data; based on IQAir’s official company history.
- 1963
Founded in Germany
Two brothers, Manfred and Klaus Hammes, built a home air filter in a small workshop in Germany to reduce the black dust from coal heating.
- 1966
First air quality monitor
IQAir built its first optical air quality monitor, so that air quality and filter performance could be checked.
- 1981
Move to Switzerland
Klaus Hammes moved the company’s operations to Switzerland.
- 1990
Car cabin air filter
Frank Hammes introduced a cabin air filter for Mercedes-Benz vehicles in North America.
- 1998
HealthPro Plus
The HealthPro Plus free-standing air purifier was launched.
- 2004
Indoor air awareness
IQAir worked with the American Lung Association to raise awareness of indoor air quality.
On television
Over seven seasons, IQAir provided air purification systems for the TV series Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
- 2005
Whole-house air purification
The PerfectPro whole-house air purification system was introduced, with a MERV 16 rating.
- 2007
A second “Best Buy”
HealthPro Plus received the “Best Buy” rating from Consumers Digest for the second time.
- 2008
Beijing Olympics
IQAir equipped U.S. athletes with clean air systems at the Beijing Olympic Games.
- 2014
Clean Air Experience Center
IQAir opened its Clean Air Experience Center in Southern California.
- 2017
AirVisual joins
IQAir acquired AirVisual. According to IQAir, the AirVisual app shows real-time data from more than 80,000 monitoring stations.
- 2018
World Air Quality Report
IQAir published its first World Air Quality Report, based on PM2.5 data from the AirVisual platform.
